The End of the 1st Semester

The first semester of Bible School has been FANTASTIC! Nate and I have enjoyed every single minute of being with these young people every day. They are such a joy to be around.
We cannot believe how quickly the first semester has flown by. It seems like we just arrived and were trying to put names with each of the faces. Now we know them fairly well. 😁

On the last day of the first semester level one had testing. They spent most of their week studying and finishing up their final exams. Level 2 didn't have finals, as their classes continue into the next semester, so they had a day of chatting, playing games, and waiting for level one to finish.

Part of level one's finals were to create a skit for my class and also one for my husband. These students LOVE to be creative and write songs and skits. They were very happy to make it part of their final, and level 2 was excited to be able to sit and enjoy it all with us.

They had transformed the level 1 classroom with curtains, handmade spotlights and music. It was awesome! Their creative minds amaze me at times.
A photo backstage 😁

The rest of these photos are from the skits. There were school scenes, church scenes, live music, a Bible School Reunion scene, which was hilarious, and more.

The school reunion (hilarious!)

We were surprised at the end when they handed us a "Thank You" card thanking us for teaching them. I almost got teary eyed as they each said a little something about their first semester and how grateful they are that we would be willing to be there full time to teach them.
I tell my husband all the time that when graduation day comes I am going to be very emotional. We are only just beginning our second semester and I am already dreading that day. I don't want this school year to end. It has been such a momentous time of my life and I am so grateful to be here. We both are still amazed that we are here. It has been incredible!!!

Later in the evening everyone cleaned the library and then started setting up bunk beds for all of the American visitors that would be coming for youth camp soon. The young men would be leaving the next day for a boat ride to Mindanao, so they were busy, busy that evening.

After they finished setting everything up, the ladies wrote a little message to Bishop White as it was his birthday. As you know, birthdays are VERY important days here and they definitely didn't want to miss out on wishing Bishop a very special day.

We LOVE them all! They are some of the greatest young people you will ever meet. I am looking forward to the second semester and seeing them progress even more.
