Our first Week

Our first full week has been great! The Cajandings have been so wonderful in helping us get properly situated and adjusted to our new surroundings.

We have spent most of our days preparing lessons and learning the schedule for when the bible school begins next Monday, June 10.
We are excited and are looking forward to all of the students arriving this week. Several who attend the church here in Bagong Silang have been cleaning classrooms and today we saw them cleaning the kitchen and dishes.

It is going to be a busy, but exciting time around here soon!

After prayer and devotion we try to talk to this little cutie by the name of Abraham. He is very unsure about us Americans and will hardly even look at us. We tried to bribe him with candy and we were able to get a handshake from him. I hope he will like us soon.
The shopping here is quite an experience. It is interesting to see what American stores they have in the malls. Also the grocery items, and how some are equivalent in price and others are outrageous. Nate enjoys figuring out the pesos to USD and I enjoy letting him. It's still a little difficult for me.

Nathan has been wanting to purchase more Filipino dress shirts so we checked for some while at the mall. These shirts are called Barongs and they are made of a very lightweight and thin material and are perfect for this hot weather. The Filipinos wear them to weddings and anything formal.

After shopping around we had lunch with the Cajandings and Bro. Bong at Burger King. They were very excited and enjoyed it. They love American food. Even if it is only BK. 😊
While eating, we talked about Elder McDaniel and asked if they could show us where he lived. Nathan and I have recently read his book. It is more of a type of journal depicting his stay here while building the Bagong Silang church building. We both enjoyed the book because we have such a love for so many that were mentioned in it. Being here and seeing the sites that he had mentioned makes it that much more special. What a blessing he was to the church here, and today we are able to enjoy the beautiful apartment he built for Bishop & Ma'am Wheeler.

Thursday evening we had another wonderful service. Elder Cajanding taught on loving and savoring God's word.

Nate and I thoroughly enjoy fellowshipping with the precious saints here. They love to laugh and get a kick when we pronounce certain words incorrectly. We have a fun time with the language barrier here.
We will get to experience two Filipino weddings while here. What fun that will be!
